Sony Sets 4K ‘Anaconda’ Release for Dec. 9 Ahead of Meta Reboot

The timed reissue is positioned to funnel attention to a self-aware theatrical reboot opening Dec. 25.

Overview

  • Sony Pictures Home Entertainment confirms a 4K Ultra HD edition of the 1997 film for Dec. 9, restored from the original camera negative.
  • The release includes Dolby Vision presentation with English Dolby Atmos and 5.1 plus interviews with director Luis Llosa and co-writer Hans Bauer, deleted and extended scenes, and the theatrical trailer.
  • Genre outlets report a limited-edition 4K SteelBook version scheduled for the same date.
  • The 4K timing follows last week’s trailer for Tom Gormican’s comedic reboot starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd.
  • The original starred Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube and Jon Voight and later spawned multiple sequels and a 2015 crossover with Lake Placid.
