Overview
- Sony flipped the 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' setting to on by default for PS5 Pro in the PS5 Beta Programme on Thursday, August 6, 2026, which makes the console apply PSSR 2.0 to games that previously used PSSR 1.0.
- The override applies only to PS5 Pro units and can be turned off at Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality for users who prefer the original game-rendered output.
- The beta also introduces a region-limited 'Turn Off Bluetooth' option designed for esports venues, and Sony warns using it disables Rest Mode and HDMI link as a trade-off to reduce controller pairing conflicts.
- The firmware is distributed only to PS5 Beta Programme participants and includes general performance and stability tweaks with no confirmed public release date while the build remains subject to change.
- PSSR is Sony’s AI-driven upscaling for PS5 Pro that launched in November 2024 and was revised to PSSR 2.0 in March 2026; forcing 2.0 at the system level speeds wider adoption but may change the look of titles that never received a native 2.0 patch.
