Sony and Microsoft have released their annual gaming retrospectives, PlayStation Wrap-Up and Xbox Year In Review, respectively, allowing gamers to reflect on their gaming habits over the past year.
The retrospectives reveal statistics such as total hours played, top games, and even the most used controller.
Sony's PlayStation Wrap-Up also assigns an algorithmically generated 'gaming style' to each player and makes game recommendations based on this style.
Sony's recap is only available to players who have logged at least 10 hours of gameplay on a PS5 or PS4 from January 1 to December 31, and have consented to data collection.
PlayStation had a successful 2023 with the critical success of Spider-Man 2, the well-received launch of Final Fantasy XVI as a console exclusive, and new DLC modes for The Last of Us: Part II and God of War: Ragnarök.
