Sony Activates PS Portal Cloud Streaming, Letting Premium Members Play PS5 Games Without a PS5

Following a year-long beta, eligibility is restricted to PS Plus Premium members with performance dependent on strong Wi‑Fi.

Overview

  • The feature is officially live after a year in testing, rolling out on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. PT (Nov. 6 at 2 a.m. GMT) according to Sony’s announcement.
  • Users can stream thousands of compatible PS5 titles directly from Sony’s servers, covering owned digital games plus the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog.
  • Highlighted launch titles include Astro Bot, Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Fortnite, Ghost of Yōtei, Grand Theft Auto V, and Resident Evil 4.
  • Remote Play remains a separate option that does not require PS Plus Premium, while cloud streaming enables play without a powered-on PS5 and supports side‑by‑side use with another account on the console.
  • The update adds a redesigned home screen with Remote Play, Cloud Streaming, and Search tabs, plus 3D Audio support, a passcode lock, a network status screen, in‑stream purchases, accessibility options, and multiplayer invites, with title availability varying by region.
