Sonora Deploys 49 New Buses in Hermosillo, Including First Electric Units

Durazo couples the rollout with a 2026 fare freeze to anchor a broader push into electrification.

Overview

  • The delivery includes three electric buses and completes a 100% equipment upgrade across the fleet with information screens, CCTV, automated passenger counters, digital recorders, radios, and GPS.
  • The state's public Electrolinera has logged 5,519 recharges in seven months, with an estimated 13.24 tonnes of CO2 avoided.
  • Officials report 420 new units added statewide during the current administration, supported by 616 million pesos in combined public and private investment.
  • Service expansions in 2025 included 41 units in Ciudad Obregón, 30 recent-model buses on lines 3, 7, 8, 10, and 17, and the launch of Line 9 with 11 buses operated by the Cajeme municipal government.
  • Connectivity also improved with 40 buses added in Guaymas, Navojoa, Nogales, and San Luis Río Colorado, plus 13 vans reactivating routes in smaller municipalities through IMTES.
