Songwriter JD Souther, Known for Eagles Hits, Dies at 78

Souther, a key figure in the Southern California country-rock scene, passed away peacefully at his home in New Mexico.

JD Souther co-wrote several of the Eagles' biggest hits, including 'New Kid in Town,' 'Best of My Love,' and 'Heartache Tonight.'
Beyond the Eagles, Souther wrote songs for Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, and many others.
Souther had a successful solo career, with his biggest solo hit being 'You're Only Lonely' in 1979.
He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2013, recognized as a major influence on a generation of songwriters.
Souther also pursued acting, appearing in TV shows like 'Nashville' and films such as 'Postcards from the Edge
