Son of Slain Newark Imam Arrested on Gun Charges Amid Ongoing Homicide Investigation

Authorities have yet to charge anyone in connection with Imam Hassan Sharif's death, as rewards totaling $35,000 are offered for information leading to an arrest.

Imam Hassan Sharif was shot multiple times outside the Masjid Muhammad-Newark mosque on January 3, 2024.
His son, Abdush K. Sharif, along with two other men, Kevin Rogers and Deshawn Kinchen, were arrested on gun charges.
The three were arrested during a search of a Newark residence where a revolver was found, which none of them had legal ownership of.
Despite the arrests, no one has been charged in connection with Imam Sharif's death and the investigation is ongoing.
A total of $35,000 in rewards is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the Imam's killing.
