Son of Cartel Leader Convicted on Major Drug and Firearms Charges

Rubén Oseguera, known as 'El Menchito,' found guilty of drug trafficking and violent crimes, faces up to life in prison.

Rubén Oseguera, son of fugitive Jalisco New Generation Cartel boss, was convicted by a federal jury in Washington, D.C.
Oseguera was found guilty of conspiring to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine for U.S. importation and using firearms in a drug conspiracy.
He played a key role in the cartel's operations, using extreme violence, including ordering the downing of a Mexican military helicopter.
Oseguera was extradited to the U.S. in February 2020 following a federal crackdown on the cartel.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 10, 2025, with Oseguera facing a mandatory minimum of 40 years in prison.
