Somali President's Son Accused of Fatal Crash in Turkey, Flees Country

Turkish authorities under pressure as international procedures initiated to seek return of suspect.

Somali president's son, Mohammed Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is accused of causing a fatal traffic crash in Istanbul and fleeing the country.
Victim Yunus Emre Gocer, a 38-year-old motorcycle courier, died of injuries in a hospital six days after the incident.
Turkish authorities issued an arrest warrant and imposed travel restrictions after the motorcyclist's death, but reports indicate that Mohamud had already left Turkey.
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc stated that 'international procedures' had been initiated concerning the crash and an investigation was also launched into police officers who allegedly allowed Mohamud to go free.
A Somali diplomat in Turkey revealed that Mohamud took the severely injured victim to a hospital after the crash and later travelled to Dubai.
