Overview

  • Solar panels produced a record 45.4 TWh in June, enough to fully supply roughly 340 million EU residents
  • Photovoltaic output surpassed nuclear’s 21.8 % share and wind’s 15.8 % to claim the top generation slot
  • Coal’s contribution dropped to just 6.1 %, marking its lowest monthly share since record-keeping began
  • Fossil fuels accounted for 23.6 % of EU electricity in June, remaining slightly above the May 2024 low due to higher gas use
  • EU electricity consumption rose 2.2 % to 1,313 TWh in H1 2025, underscoring growing demand amid the green transition
