Soil-Retention Wall Collapse in Sohna Basement Kills Two Labourers

Police are awaiting family members’ arrival to conduct autopsies before deciding whether to file negligence charges against the contractor

  • The incident occurred on June 15 between 1:30 pm and 1:45 pm during piling work at an under-construction residential society in Sohna Dhani village.
  • Investigators said a newly built soil-retention wall failed under soil pressure and crushed Prashant Kumar, 32, and his wife, Lakshmi Devi, 29, beneath debris.
  • Lakshmi Devi died at the scene while Prashant Kumar succumbed to injuries en route to Gurugram Civil Hospital.
  • Both bodies are being held at the government mortuary in Sohna pending post-mortem examinations once next of kin arrive.
  • Inspector Parveen Malik stated that police have not yet received a negligence complaint but will register an FIR if families allege contractor fault, otherwise an inquiry under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita will follow.
