- Benefits scheduled for Aug. 27 will be issued to recipients born on the 21st through 31st, according to the SSA calendar.
- Monthly payments go out on Wednesdays in three waves tied to birthdates: 1–10, 11–20, and after the 20th.
- The SSA is expected to withhold up to 50% of benefits from people with unresolved overpayments who have not begun repayment.
- An OIG report found $13.6 billion in overpayments from FY2020–2023, and maximum monthly benefits currently reach up to $2,831 at age 62 and $5,108 at age 70.
- SSI for September will be paid early on Friday, Aug. 29 because Sept. 1 is a federal holiday, with some long-time beneficiaries still paid on the 3rd of the month.
