São Paulo Metro Launches 24-Hour Saturday Service on Four Lines in Pilot

The trial evaluates overnight viability for riders of the state-run network.

Overview

  • Overnight trains run every Saturday starting December 6 through February 2026, operating between 00:00 and 04:40 with 20 to 30 minute intervals.
  • The pilot applies to Lines 1-Azul, 2-Verde, 3-Vermelha and 15-Prata only, with transfers to concession-operated metro lines and to trains closed overnight.
  • On Line 2-Verde, the Vila Madalena–Clínicas and Sacomã–Vila Prudente segments operate in both directions on a single track during overnight hours.
  • Line 15-Prata relies on free PAESE buses for the first weekend while its new train fleet undergoes testing, with the setup to be reassessed afterward.
  • Ticket windows stay closed overnight and riders must use machines, Bilhete Único or Cartão TOP, Google Wallet or WhatsApp, with contactless entry available on Lines 1 and 3 and slated for Lines 2 and 15 in December.
