Overview

• The operation spanned 270 municipalities and covered 262 municipal schools and 109 state schools across interior, coastal and metropolitan areas.
• TCE-SP deployed 383 external-control auditors through 16:00 with remote support from the Regional Nutrition Council and real-time tracking via a central dashboard.
• Teams assessed preparation and distribution of meals, menu oversight by nutritionists, receipt of supplies, storage and hygiene practices, kitchen infrastructure and the functioning of School Feeding Councils.
• Initial observations included expired food items, inadequate storage, leaks, unprotected wiring and other hygiene shortcomings reported in some facilities.
• Regional checks in western São Paulo documented a school water tank last cleaned in 2023, deteriorated furniture and equipment, and students eating without proper facilities, with some city halls citing pending procurement for fixes.
