Overview
- Russia’s Hydrometcenter projects overnight snow into Dec. 31 with temperatures of −9 to −7°C in Moscow and −10 to −5°C across the region, accompanied by weak winds.
- Light to locally moderate snow is expected during the day on Dec. 31, with a further drop in temperatures likely by evening.
- New Year’s night is forecast to be colder at about −14°C in Moscow and −17°C in the Moscow region under cloudy skies with light snow.
- On Jan. 1, light snow may continue with roughly −12 to −10°C in Moscow and −15 to −10°C in the region and westerly winds of 3–8 m/s.
- Measured snow depths stand near 15 cm at the VDNH station and around 20 cm in northern and northwestern localities including Klin, Dmitrov, New Jerusalem and Volokolamsk.
