Snow Closes Mughal, Sinthan Top and SSG Roads in J&K as Highway Remains Open With Delays

Traffic police urge daytime use of the JammuSrinagar corridor, warning that night journeys between the Nashri and Navyug tunnels may be difficult.

Overview

  • Officials shut the Mughal Road and Sinthan Top Road after 3–5 inches of snow at Pir Ki Gali and Sinthan Pass.
  • The SrinagarSonamarg–Gumari route to Kargil was also closed following fresh snow accumulation.
  • The JammuSrinagar national highway remained open with single-lane slowdowns at Banihal Nallah, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwas and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather.
  • Passengers and light motor vehicles were advised to travel during daylight and to avoid night trips due to heavy truck movement between the Nashri and Navyug tunnels.
  • Dense fog and wet conditions delayed several flights at Jammu Airport and slowed multiple trains across the region.
