Snooker Champion Mark King Receives Five-Year Ban for Match Fixing
King found guilty of fixing a match and sharing inside information, ordered to pay significant fines.
- Mark King, a former Northern Ireland Open champion, has been banned from professional snooker for five years after being found guilty of match fixing.
- The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) ruled that King fixed a match against Joe Perry in February 2023, following suspicious betting activity.
- King was also found guilty of providing inside information for betting purposes on the same match, resulting in a fine of over £68,000.
- Charges related to a separate match against John Higgins in December 2022 were dismissed, and no other players were implicated in the case.
- King, who denies the charges, has until November 28 to appeal the decision, with his ban set to conclude in March 2028.
