Overview
- SNK announced the Metal Slug Ultimate Collection on Wednesday as a 10-game compilation coming to PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PC via Steam in 2027.
- The set includes Metal Slug 1 through 7, the Game Boy Advance exclusive Metal Slug Advance, and a previously unreleased Metal Slug Location Test Version that has only been available in arcades until now.
- The ports are reported to be handled by M2 and will add explicit features such as quick save, quick load, rewind, online leaderboards, score/time attack modes, a gallery/museum and Combat School tutorial.
- The announcement trailer briefly teases a separate, new Metal Slug game but provides no further details and its development status remains unconfirmed by SNK.
- The collection is pitched as both preservation and entry-point work for the franchise, making rare releases accessible to players and offering leaderboards and rewind tools that could broaden the series’ reach and multiplayer competition.
