Overview
- The SNDP Yogam council formally endorsed a unity plan and tasked vice-president Thushar Vellappally to lead follow-up talks with NSS leaders ahead of the Assembly election.
- NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair welcomed the move, said unity "will become a reality," and indicated the Director Board will decide after preliminary discussions at Perunna.
- The SNDP council also passed a resolution critical of the Indian Union Muslim League, asserting Malappuram is not a "private empire" and accusing the party of election-time secularism.
- The push revives a 2012–2014 attempt at a Hindu alliance that collapsed over disagreements on Devaswom recruitment and caste-based reservation policies.
- An internal SNDP faction, the Samrakshana Samiti, denounced the effort as politically motivated and communal, questioned the Yogam’s mandate, and sought clarity on reservations and Devaswom issues.
