Overview
- SNCF Voyageurs confirmed that Intercités services on the Bordeaux–Marseille, Paris–Limoges and Paris–Clermont-Ferrand routes will run full timetables from Monday, August 18.
- Since August 11, three daily round trips between Bordeaux and Marseille, two between Paris and Clermont-Ferrand and up to three on Paris–Limoges–Toulouse were suspended each day as a heatwave precaution.
- The operator attributes these disruptions to extreme temperatures overwhelming the ageing Corail fleet’s air-conditioning systems, some dating back to the late 1970s.
- Unions and passenger associations have seized on the cancellations to criticize chronic underinvestment in Intercités rolling stock.
- SNCF plans to phase in CAF-built Oxygène trains from 2027 to offer improved comfort, better disability access and shorter journey times.
