SNCF Announces 1.5% Average Increase in Train Ticket Prices for 2025

The price hike, effective January 8, aims to offset rising costs and fund investments while maintaining affordability for travelers.

  • Ticket prices for TGV InOui and Ouigo services will rise by an average of 1.5%, equivalent to less than €1 per ticket, starting January 8, 2025.
  • The increase primarily affects maximum ticket prices, which will rise by €1 to €7 depending on the route, while minimum fares remain unchanged.
  • Intercités train tickets will see a slightly higher average increase of 1.9%, and the Junior & Cie child travel service will cost €3 more per ticket on average.
  • The SNCF cites rising operational costs, including a 3% increase in infrastructure fees and investments in new trains and maintenance, as reasons for the price adjustments.
  • Despite the hike, half of TGV tickets will still be priced under €47, and discounts for subscription holders and low-cost Ouigo fares remain unaffected.
