Overview
- Snap announced and began rolling out Snapchat Plans on Thursday, a free set of in-app tools for creating and managing real-world meetups without leaving the app.
- Users can build a Plan with a title, date and time, invite up to 200 friends, and send each invitation directly in a one-on-one chat where guests can mark Going, Maybe, or Can’t Go.
- Plans include a one-hour reminder for attendees and let hosts view guest lists, update details, and invite more people after a Plan is created.
- The feature adds a My Plans section to user profiles and an Our Plans area on Friendship Profiles, and invites can be decorated with dynamic Bitmoji cover art that updates as friends respond.
- Snap cites an internal survey showing 35% of U.S. Snapchatters ages 13–24 use group chat to organize events and says Plans, with a soon-to-come option to create events directly from chats, aims to capture that activity and compete with standalone apps like Partiful and Apple’s Invites.
