Snapchat Caps Free Memories at 5GB, Introduces Paid Storage Tiers

Snap says the change keeps the Memories feature sustainable.

Overview

  • Users exceeding 5GB must either export their archives or pay for additional space as the company begins rolling out the new model.
  • Paid options include 100GB for $1.99 per month, 250GB for Snapchat+ subscribers who pay $3.99 monthly, and up to 5TB under Snapchat Platinum for $15.99.
  • Excess Memories will remain temporarily stored for 12 months before removal if an account stays over the limit without upgrading.
  • Business Today reports Snapchat will delete the most recent Snaps once the grace period ends, keeping older items instead.
  • Many users are exporting content using in‑app tools, including batch saves of up to 100 items and the Download My Data option that sends a .zip archive.
