Overview
- Snap began taking preorders with a $200 deposit for the $2,195 SPECS after formally launching the product on Sept. 16 and said shipping will start later this fall to the U.S., U.K. and France.
- The company announced partnerships with Nvidia, Salesforce and Amazon Web Services to build enterprise use cases such as object ID, inventory checks and remote technical support for field workers.
- Nvidia will supply XR AI agents that combine live camera and microphone inputs with models and orchestration tools so the glasses can perceive surroundings and offer step-by-step guidance.
- Snap is also introducing SPECS Intelligence, an anticipatory AI service that links the glasses with iPhones and Macs to learn user routines and surface relevant tasks and information.
- Commercial risk remains high because Snap has not disclosed preorder volumes, the $2,195 price is steep for the small AR market that TrendForce estimates at roughly 950,000 shipments this year, and Meta already holds a dominant share.
