• Ovie, a cat, was smuggled onto a Royal Caribbean cruise ship by a passenger, and was discovered during a routine inspection.
• Due to customs rules, Ovie was not allowed off the ship in Australia or New Zealand and was slated for euthanasia.
• Guest service crew members intervened to ensure Ovie's safety and were eventually able to get the cat back to the US.
• Ovie has since been adopted by one of the ship's guest service members and is now living in Miami.
