SMN Keeps Wind and Storm Alerts in Place as Cyclogenesis Sweeps Central and Northeast Argentina

A developing low is producing dangerous gusts alongside short‑period downpours across several provinces.

  • Orange wind alerts target the center and north of Córdoba, southeast La Rioja and north San Luis with southerly winds of 50–70 km/h and gusts that could reach 100 km/h, according to the SMN.
  • Yellow alerts extend across much of the country, including AMBA and Buenos Aires province, with winds of 35–60 km/h and gusts near 90 km/h plus risks from storms and heavy rain.
  • The SMN warns of convective hazards in provinces such as Corrientes, Misiones, Formosa, Chaco and Santa Fe, with expected rainfall of roughly 20–50 mm, frequent lightning and possible hail.
  • In the AMBA area, the cyclogenesis brought 15–30 mm of rain with gusts of 35–60 km/h on Saturday, with local forecasts indicating improving conditions into Sunday.
  • Separately in Galicia, Spain, AEMET‑based forecasts call for near‑certain rain early Sunday between 02:00 and 08:00 with moderate winds and gusts around 40–49 km/h, easing later in the day.
