SMN Issues Orange and Yellow Alerts for Severe Storms Across 11 Provinces

SMN guidance cites hail risk, intense lightning, 90 km/h gusts in Mendoza, with a cooldown expected in AMBA by Friday.

  • Large parts of Mendoza are under an orange alert for isolated strong to locally severe storms with possible hail, very intense electrical activity, gusts that could exceed 90 km/h and short‑period downpours totaling 20–50 mm.
  • Yellow storm alerts cover Jujuy, Salta, Córdoba, La Pampa, Río Negro, eastern San Luis, western Mendoza and southern Buenos Aires with frequent lightning, occasional hail, gusts above 70 km/h and 10–20 mm of rain.
  • The AMBA faces a hot Wednesday with 23–34°C, partly cloudy skies and a low to moderate chance of isolated showers or storms, followed by a cooler Friday near 18–28°C with no rain expected.
  • Mendoza’s provincial forecast calls for a hot, partly cloudy day near 20–35°C with storms toward nightfall and northeasterly winds, with a temperature dip and early Thursday storms before improving.
