Overview
- In its Wednesday update, the weather service placed Formosa, northern Chaco, eastern Salta, southern San Luis, much of Mendoza, Neuquén and northern Río Negro under yellow alerts.
- Forecasters anticipate 20–40 mm of rain in brief bursts with gusts up to 70 km/h, frequent lightning and the chance of hail in the alert zones.
- Greater Buenos Aires dealt with Tuesday’s strongest activity, including a time‑bound alert for the capital from 3:00 to 8:59 p.m. and widespread thunderstorms across the metro area.
- Earlier orange alerts targeted central Buenos Aires Province and sectors of Córdoba such as Río Cuarto, where storms were flagged for >90 km/h gusts and 50–80 mm or more of rain.
- Looking ahead, Mendoza’s outlook points to renewed instability midweek with a provincewide peak of showers and storms on Thursday and local totals above 20 mm.
