Overview
- SMN and Conagua report that the Mexican monsoon, a low‑pressure channel and tropical waves 23 and 24 will trigger thunderstorms with lightning and possible hail across wide regions.
- Very strong to intense rainfall is forecast in Oaxaca, Sonora, Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Veracruz, Guerrero, Michoacán, Yucatán and Quintana Roo, with strong storms also likely in Nayarit, Durango, the State of Mexico, Tamaulipas, Nuevo León and Coahuila.
- Gusts are expected to reach 50–70 km/h in Sonora and Sinaloa and 40–60 km/h across several northern and central states, with possible dust storms in Baja California.
- Temperatures will range from extreme heat above 45 °C in northeast Baja California and 40–45 °C in parts of Sonora, northern Sinaloa, northeast Chihuahua, northeast Coahuila, eastern Nuevo León and western Tamaulipas to dawn lows of 0–5 °C in high elevations of Durango, the State of Mexico, Tlaxcala and Puebla.
- After Monday’s downpours, Tlalnepantla reported roadway flooding and ponding along the Gustavo Baz corridor that caused major traffic delays, with no injuries reported.
