Overview

  • Global smartphone shipments rose 1% year-over-year to 295.2 million units in the April–June quarter, according to IDC preliminary data.
  • Samsung shipped a record 58 million units, a 7.9% increase led by strong sales of its AI-enabled Galaxy A36 and A56 mid-range models.
  • Apple moved 46.4 million iPhones, up 1.5%, maintaining second place as emerging-market growth offset a 1% decline in China.
  • Mainland China’s smartphone market contracted 4% to 69 million units, with Huawei reclaiming the top local spot at an 18.1% share despite a 3.4% shipment drop.
  • IDC expressed cautious optimism that AI innovations and sustained mid-range demand will underpin a broader market recovery.
