Overview
- Smart Europe CEO Dirk Adelmann confirmed the four-door #4 will follow the two-seat #2 and act as the successor to the discontinued ForFour.
- The #2 is slated to launch next year, positioned below the £29,960 #1 at the premium end of the small electric car segment.
- Adelmann said the Fortwo successor project began in 2019 and arrived three years later than planned due to cost and partner challenges.
- Smart will deliver a major model-year update with hardware changes for the #1 and #3 in 2026, followed by a larger facelift in 2027.
- Adelmann hinted at urban-focused hardware for the new EVs, including a possible dual-motor setup and a very small turning circle.
