Crews responded shortly after 8:30 a.m. Monday to a canal access road near Greenfield and McKellips roads, southwest of Falcon Field Airport. Mesa police said the aircraft tried to set down on the canal path after reporting mechanical issues. The plane hit a residential block wall during the landing, damaging the wall and nearby pool equipment. Both occupants exited the aircraft and walked to safety, with no injuries reported on the ground and no evacuations ordered. City of Mesa Utilities joined fire and police because the damaged pool equipment included a gas line, and the incident remains under investigation.
