Overview

  • The AEA’s July report reveals that DGT speed cameras issued 3,440,655 fines in 2024, a 4% increase over the previous year.
  • Just 50 of more than 1,000 fixed devices delivered 30% of all penalties, led by the M-40 unit in Madrid and four cameras on Málaga’s A-7.
  • Andalusia recorded the highest regional tally with 959,592 fines, followed by Castilla y León, Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha.
  • Some locations saw explosive growth, notably the radar at km 245 of the A-4 in Jaén, which jumped from 2 fines in 2023 to 24,189 in 2024.
  • AEA president Mario Arnaldo argues that radar deployment should shift toward high-risk secondary roads where most serious crashes occur.
