SLINEX-25 Shifts to Sea Phase After Colombo Exchanges

The sea phase marks the start of live tactical drills designed to deepen naval interoperability under India’s MAHASAGAR policy.

Overview

  • Indian Naval Ships INS Rana and INS Jyoti were warmly received by Sri Lanka Navy personnel in Colombo during SLINEX-25’s harbour phase.
  • The harbour phase featured subject matter expert exchanges, professional interactions, cultural events, yoga sessions and sporting competitions.
  • Sri Lanka deployed SLNS Gajabahu and SLNS Vijayabahu, and Special Forces from both navies took part in joint activities.
  • Sea drills scheduled for August 17–18 will include gunnery firing, communications, navigation and seamanship evolutions, Visit Board Search and Seizure and at-sea refuelling.
  • The previous edition of SLINEX was held in Visakhapatnam in December 2024, underlining the exercise’s institutionalised role in India–Sri Lanka maritime cooperation.
