Sleeping Dogs Movie Adaptation Officially Canceled

Actor Donnie Yen confirms the long-awaited film based on the 2012 video game is no longer moving forward after years in development limbo.

The Sleeping Dogs movie adaptation, first announced in 2017, has been officially shelved, according to lead actor Donnie Yen.
Yen revealed he invested time, effort, and even personal funds into the project but cited Hollywood's unpredictable nature as a reason for its collapse.
The film was to star Yen as Wei Shen, the protagonist of the 2012 Hong Kong-set action game, and had involvement from Fast & Furious producer Neal Moritz.
Previous updates suggested progress, including a potential director and plans to begin filming in 2022, but no concrete developments ever materialized.
The original Sleeping Dogs game, praised for its martial arts combat and crime thriller storyline, remains a cult classic despite canceled sequels and spin-offs.
