Overview

  • On August 8 at 09:05 hrs, Skyroot completed a 110-second static firing of the KALAM 1200 solid motor at ISRO’s Sriharikota test complex.
  • The carbon composite booster carries 30 tonnes of propellant in an 11 m-long, 1.7 m-diameter case and delivered peak thrust of 1,200 kN in vacuum.
  • Engineers validated the motor’s ballistic performance, burn rate, thermal protection system and flex-nozzle steering mechanism during the full-duration test.
  • The test marks a key step for India’s first privately developed orbital vehicle and highlights collaboration under the 2023 Space Policy.
  • Skyroot will integrate the stage into its three-stage Vikram-1 launch vehicle and target a commercial maiden flight later this year.
