Overview
- Skyhub PAD announced this week that it will end operations with the last scheduled flights on 10 June 2026.
- The shutdown removes direct Munich services to Paderborn/Lippstadt, Lübeck and Pécs and leaves Munich without those regional links.
- The company said the decision followed persistently weak bookings, high local operating costs and sharply higher kerosene prices linked to the Iran war; Skyhub PAD had leased aircraft, crew and insurance from Danish Air Transport (DAT).
- Munich Airport said Lufthansa, which had a codeshare with Skyhub PAD, will handle rebooking to nearby airports for affected passengers while regional airports say they were surprised and are seeking alternative arrangements.
- The project began in March 2025 with 36 founding backers and later grew to about 103 shareholders, and its failure, after plans assumed roughly 90,000 annual passengers and about €13.5 million in yearly costs, highlights limits to community-led virtual airlines for preserving regional air links.
