Skye Blakely Withdraws from Olympic Trials Due to Achilles Injury

The 19-year-old gymnast was a top contender for the U.S. team but will miss the Paris Olympics after a severe injury during training.

Blakely ruptured her right Achilles during a floor exercise routine just before the trials began.
She was a favorite to make the five-woman U.S. team after finishing second at the U.S. Championships.
The injury follows a previous setback in 2021 when she tore a ligament in her elbow during the Olympic trials.
Blakely has received an outpouring of support from fellow gymnasts, including Suni Lee and Carly Patterson.
Only 15 athletes remain in contention for the U.S. team, which is expected to be a strong gold medal contender in Paris.
