Overview

• The crash occurred just before 7 p.m. on July 9 over the Chicagoland Skydiving Center outside Rochelle.
• The mid-air collision caused both primary canopies to collapse, forcing skydivers to rely on reserve parachutes.
• One skydiver entered an uncontrolled descent and was later pronounced dead at Rochelle Community Hospital.
• The surviving skydiver, found at Koritz Field–Rochelle Municipal Airport, sustained only minor injuries.
