Sky Trials Painted Pedestrian 'Fast Lanes' in Glasgow and Leeds

The branded walkways promote Sky's new Gigafast+ full‑fibre packages using polling to frame public appetite for quicker flows.

Overview

  • Specially marked tracks measuring about 50 metres by 2.2 metres with speed icons are now in place on Buchanan Street in Glasgow and Briggate in Leeds.
  • Sky positions the installation as a limited trial tied to the launch of its Full Fibre 2.5 Gigafast+ and 5 Gigafast+ services on the CityFibre network.
  • The company says the new packages use a Gigafast+ hub to deliver 2.5 Gbps and 5 Gbps, which it claims are the fastest speeds from any major UK provider.
  • A Sky‑commissioned poll of 3,000 adults found 44% support separating faster and slower pedestrians, with transport delays and buffering internet cited among top frustrations.
  • Sky is also promoting a 900 Mbps Full Fibre Gigafast plan at £25 per month for new customers in CityFibre areas starting 25 September 2025.
