Overview
- Skapion publicly unveiled the system on Wednesday, October 14, naming retired Brig. Gen. Pini Yungman, an architect of Iron Dome, as the founding designer.
- The company describes a native many-to-many architecture that uses an AI-native command-and-control to fuse sensor data, prioritise threats, allocate interceptors, and operate with or without a human in the loop.
- Skapion claims the mobile, vertical-launch, fully kinetic system can engage more than 100 targets at once with an interception rate above 97 percent and interceptor unit costs targeted near $10,000, but those figures have not been independently verified.
- The startup announced a $36 million seed round led by UP.Partners and Khosla Ventures to speed engineering, live-fire validation and integration with existing command-and-control and sensor networks.
- The product is pitched as a response to swarm saturation seen in Ukraine and Iran that strains legacy air-defence budgets and magazines, and its real-world impact will depend on upcoming live-fire tests, independent evaluations and customer rules for autonomous engagement.
