• Presented Monday in Congress, the NGO called on the government to publish regular identification, internment and expulsion data and to strengthen access to legal defense.
• A total of 1,863 people were interned in 2024, down from 2,085 in 2023, with 83.9% linked to expulsión and 16.1% to devolución.
• SJM records 1,037 forcible repatriations from CIEs, while only about 32% of all repatriations nationwide were executed from these centers.
• The profile of those detained included an increase in women to 85 from 64 a year earlier, many with years of residence in Spain, and nationalities led by Morocco and Colombia.
• Active centers were Algeciras, Barcelona, Las Palmas, Murcia, Valencia and Madrid, Tenerife remained inactive, and a new large facility is under construction in Algeciras-Botafuegos.
