Overview

  • On July 7, the sixth batch of 8,605 pilgrims departed Bhagwati Nagar base camp in two escorted convoys, with 3,486 bound for the 14-kilometre Baltal route and 5,119 headed to the 46-kilometre Pahalgam track.
  • Nearly 70,000 devotees have undertaken the pilgrimage since July 3, with 21,512 performing darshan at the cave shrine on Sunday.
  • Security measures include a multi-tier grid deploying 180 additional CAPF companies alongside the army, BSF, CRPF, SSB and local police across transit camps and trail routes.
  • More than 350,000 pilgrims have registered online so far, and on-spot registration counters at Baltal and Pahalgam are operating to accommodate new arrivals.
  • Medical teams have been stationed along both tracks to provide emergency care and have recorded two deaths from natural causes.
