Six-Year-Old Boy Fatally Struck on San Jose Freeway

The child, who had autism and was non-verbal, escaped his home late Friday night before being hit by a car on Interstate 280.

The incident occurred on Friday, December 13, around 10:55 p.m. on northbound Interstate 280 near Leland Avenue in San Jose.
Six-year-old King Holguin was struck by a 2024 Nissan Altima after running into the freeway's third lane for reasons unknown.
The boy, described by his family as energetic and loving, had autism, was non-verbal, and did not understand the dangers of traffic.
His mother stated that their home had child safety locks, but King managed to escape and was outside for only a few minutes before the accident.
CHP is investigating the crash, which temporarily closed the freeway for about an hour; no injuries to the driver were reported.
