Six Teenagers Charged Over Stabbing Outside Perth’s Ellenbrook Secondary College

Police say the after‑school assault was targeted and carried out by youths not enrolled at the college.

Overview

  • WA Police charged two 16-year-olds, one 15-year-old, two 14-year-olds and a 13-year-old with offences including unlawful wounding, assault occasioning bodily harm, disorderly behaviour and being armed in a way likely to cause fear.
  • The injured 15-year-old student was treated for wounds to his arm and head, including a puncture to his bicep, and is in a stable, non-life-threatening condition at St John of God Midland Hospital.
  • One of the accused also faces an additional count of possessing an edged weapon, and several of the teenagers are scheduled to appear in Perth Children’s Court.
  • The incident occurred just after the final bell outside the main building, prompting a precautionary lockdown as police detained six suspects within about an hour.
  • Investigators are reviewing CCTV and appealing for information, with authorities indicating at least one person connected to the attack may still be outstanding; witnesses reported the group wore dark clothing and carried knives, machetes and an axe.
