Six Shot, One Dead in Christmas Night Gunfire Across Chicago, Police Say

Investigators are pursuing leads across multiple neighborhoods with suspects at large in at least one case.

  • A man in his 30s was fatally shot around 10:11 p.m. in Park Manor and later died at University of Chicago Hospital.
  • A 37-year-old was shot multiple times during an argument near the 300 block of W. Marquette Road and was listed in critical condition at University of Chicago Hospital.
  • A 31-year-old was critically wounded about 3:10 a.m. on the 6300 block of S. Dorchester Avenue in Woodlawn after two gunmen exited a silver car and opened fire, and no one was in custody.
  • Teen victims included a 15-year-old shot in the right leg on the 2900 block of E. 91st Street and a 17-year-old hit in the thigh on the 5700 block of N. Rockwell Street, and both were expected to recover.
  • A 36-year-old was shot in the abdomen on the 7300 block of S. Stewart Avenue around 2 a.m. and was hospitalized with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
