Six People Found Dead in Confined Space at Weld County Dairy

OSHA has opened an inspection with autopsies pending to determine cause.

Overview

  • Fire crews were dispatched around 6 p.m. Wednesday for a confined-space rescue at the 32000 block of Weld County Road 18 and recovered six bodies.
  • Local reports identified the site as Prospect Valley Dairy east of Keenesburg, roughly 30–40 miles northeast of Denver.
  • The Weld County Coroner said all victims are male and that one may have been 17 years old; names have not been released.
  • The coroner noted preliminary indications of gas exposure at the dairy, with definitive findings to follow autopsies.
  • The Weld County Sheriff's Office reported nothing criminal was discovered, and OSHA confirmed an investigation is underway.
