Six Missing After Small Plane Crashes Off San Diego Coast

Search crews scoured a debris field in 200-foot-deep waters three miles west of Point Loma overnight ahead of a scheduled dawn restart.

  • A twin-engine Cessna 414 carrying six people crashed around 12:45 p.m. Sunday approximately three miles west of Point Loma, leaving a debris field in about 200-foot-deep water.
  • By 11:30 p.m., Coast Guard officials had found no survivors and confirmed all six occupants remained missing.
  • Search teams from the Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, San Diego Harbor Police and lifeguard units coordinated air and sea sweeps overnight, with operations set to resume Monday morning.
