Overview
- Joint teams from the District Reserve Guard of Bijapur and Dantewada and the Special Task Force engaged Maoists after 10 a.m. in Bijapur’s Indravati National Park, with exchanges of fire lasting for hours.
- Security forces recovered six bodies along with automatic weapons including an INSAS rifle, a Sten gun, a .303 rifle, ammunition, detonators and other Maoist materials.
- One injured cadre was detained from the Annaram–Tarlagud sector and is receiving medical treatment under police custody.
- Additional DRG, STF, Bastar Fighters, CRPF and Chhattisgarh Armed Force units have cordoned nearby areas as search-and-clear and area-domination operations continue.
- Police leaders called the encounter a significant gain in the ongoing crackdown in Bastar, where officials report 259 Maoists killed statewide this year, including 230 in the division.
