Six Killed and Dozens Hospitalized After Fire Breaks Out at Milan Retirement Home

Six people were killed and at least 68 were injured after a fire broke out at a retirement home in Milan, Italy.
The fire started in a first-floor room of the retirement home around 11:20 a.m. local time and produced toxic fumes that spread through the building.
Two residents were burned to death in their room where the fire began, while four others died from smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but appears to have been accidental.
More than 80 residents were evacuated from the building, many of whom require wheelchairs, while 80 others were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries and smoke inhalation.
